There are many ways that Particls can be extended by 3rd party developers. They include:

• InputAdapters

  Input Adapters retrieve information from a known source (E.g. RSS or a CRM/CMS application) and inject items into the Particls Attention Engine for processing (For instance: New headlines from RSS or the number of outstanding customers from a CRM application). More information on adapter development coming soon.

   

• OutputAdapters

  Output Adapters receive 'rinsed' items from the Particls Attention Engine (rinsed items are items that have been ranked and transformed in various ways) and present them to the user based on their rules. More information on adapter development coming soon.

   

• Subscription Plugins

  Subscription Plugins make it possible for sites and services to provide easy access to their soft APIs so that Particls users can quickly get access to their content feeds without having to go to the site or understand RSS/XML subscriptions. More information on Subscription Plugins coming soon.

   

• Action Extensions

  Action Extensions allow users to take action on a piece of content. They can Digg it, bookmarket it and more. Create your own Action Extension for integration into Particls.

   

• Command Line Processor

  The Command line Processor allows you to send commands to Particls so that it will perform given functions. The Processor can be access from outside the application using Shell commands, or via adapters using a the Processor Method.

   

• Protocal HandlerThe Protocal Handler allows you to send commands to Particls via the browser address bar so that it will perform given functions.   

   

   

• Skins

  Particls can be re-skinned to suit your own individual tastes or your own brand.

• RSS Visualization

  Via the RSS feed generated by Pebbles, developers can display Particls items via widgets, sidebars web pages etc

• APML File

  Do you want to develop an unrelated client or web-based application that factors in a users interests as collected by Particls? Particls supports the APML open spec. Visit the APML website to learn more about the APML specification. Please note that the particls APML file can be found in the %appdata%\particls folder. 

• inTouch Mixed Mode

  inTouch is a powerful packaging server for Particls. inTouch Basic allows the addition of a feed URL to the installer on the fly via querystring. inTouch Partner can take the process one step further whereby partners can pre-define multiple feeds, watch words, stop word and other settings using a web-based setup screen. inTouch Mixed Mode is a combination of Basic and Partner mode whereby users can define an additional feed for the partner package on the fly.
